FAQ

  • Matt does not generally prescribe controlled substances, but will continue a previous prescription from prior psychiatric providers if necessary.

Controlled substances for psychiatric purposes include benzodiazepines for anxiety (e.g, Xanax, Klonopin), sedatives for insomnia (e.g, Ambien, Lunesta), and stimulants for ADHD (e.g, Adderall, Vyvanse).

If your anxiety, insomnia, or ADHD cannot be adequately treated with non-controlled substances, Matt will determine that over several sessions, and he may prescribe a controlled substance if there are no other effective options available.

  • Matt’s certification and license allows him to see all ages across the lifespan. Sessions with clients under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult for a part of each session.

  • While medication management is the focus, Matt offers brief supportive psychotherapy with each visit. Psychotherapeutic interventions include discussing various coping skills unique to your needs, the principles of CBT and DBT that apply to your situation, as well as ways to stay motivated to achieve your goals. Matt recommends more in depth psychotherapy to be obtained from an LMHC, LCSW, or psychologist.
